A new chapter begins for MODO with the grand opening of its fully renovated space at Mitsukoshi Fresh. Formerly known as The Bakery by Café Dolci, MODO Food and Living Japan reopens with a refreshed identity, welcoming guests to rediscover the same beloved pastries and gelato—now complemented by authentic Japanese coffee and teas from Unir Coffee and Ippodo Tea.

The transformation is immediately noticeable. The newly redesigned store features dedicated spaces for each of MODO’s Japanese partner brands, including Sengoku Aladdin, Ippodo, Unir, and Vermicular, creating a more immersive and curated experience.

The Sengoku Aladdin and Vermicular display showcase their beautifully crafted Japanese cookware, offering a closer look at the artistry and precision behind each piece. Ippodo’s area invites guests into the world of authentic Japanese teas, while Unir Coffee’s dedicated counter displays the highest-grade coffee beans, allowing customers to experience their rich, fruity aromas. Guests can also watch MODO’s award-winning baristas expertly prepare each cup, bringing the craft of Japanese coffee to life.

The Grand Opening

The grand opening event officially began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by MODO Vice Chairman Takeki Furukubo and Mitsukoshi Fresh General Manager Kenichi Yamaguchi, marking the start of MODO Food and Living Japan’s new chapter. Guests were then introduced to the people behind MODO—the chefs, baristas, and crew who bring passion and craftsmanship into everything they do.

As the event unfolded, guests were invited to indulge in MODO’s signature pastries, freely order freshly brewed coffee or matcha, and enjoy complimentary gelato, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout the space.

The celebration featured three main highlights, each showcasing one of MODO’s Japanese partner brands. The first was a live cooking demonstration with Vermicular, led by Chef Chloe, who prepared a beautifully tender roast beef using the Musui Kamado. Guests were able to taste the result firsthand, experiencing how Vermicular cookware delivers exceptional flavor and texture.

Next, guests were guided through a tea-tasting experience with Ippodo Tea, led by the MODO barista team. Mary introduced the audience to a selection of authentic Japanese teas, including Sencha, Hojicha, and Matcha, sharing the stories and traditions behind each cup.

The event concluded with another live cooking demonstration, this time featuring Sengoku Aladdin. Chef Christian showcased how the cookware is designed for everyday cooking, highlighting its speed, consistency, and reliability—perfectly suited for the modern home kitchen.

The grand opening marked more than just a refreshed space—it celebrated MODO Food and Living Japan’s vision of bringing together thoughtful design, authentic flavors, and Japanese craftsmanship under one roof. With its newly renovated home at Mitsukoshi Fresh and strong partnerships with beloved Japanese brands, MODO invites guests to experience food and living in a more meaningful way—one cup, one dish, and one moment at a time.
